Panel elements — THC/CBD milligrams, serving count, and net weight the label has to carry
Every state market writes its own required panel. The THC milligram total, the per-serving milligram callout, the total CBD and total cannabinoid lines, the serving count, the net weight, the ingredient statement, the allergen disclosure, and the nutrition facts block — all of it varies by jurisdiction, and most of it varies in ways the regulator does not telegraph until a label comes back from review. - THC + CBD milligram line. Whether the state requires a single total, a per-serving + per-package pair, or a stacked total + minor-cannabinoid breakdown — and what order those numbers have to read in on the sticker panel.
- Serving count + net weight. Whether the serving count reads from the per-serving mg forward or the per-package mg backward, and whether the net weight has to land in metric, imperial, or both on the same panel.
- Ingredient + allergen statement. Big-9 disclosure language, processing-aid carry-over rules, and the order of ingredients the state asks for — descending by weight, descending by cannabinoid potency, or a state-specific formula.
State-specific symbols — the universal symbol swap, the THC diamond, and the dosage warning icon
The state-mandated symbol block is the part of the label most operators get wrong — because the symbol list changes by jurisdiction, and the wrong symbol on the wrong package is the most common recall cause MiseScale audits. California’s universal symbol is not Colorado’s. Minnesota’s THC diamond is not Nevada’s. The dosage warning icon, the operator-stamp block, and the lab-test accreditation mark all live on the same panel and all change by state. MiseScale scopes the symbol block against the state stack, the SKU format, and the printing run the label is part of.
Universal THC symbol. Each state market ships its own version — California, Colorado, and Oregon each publish a different mark, and the wrong mark on the wrong SKU is a label review failure.
Dosage warning icon. Whether the state puts the dosage warning on the same panel as the symbol or on a separate warning panel, and whether the warning text is bilingual or English-only.
Operator + lab accreditation mark. Whether the operator's license number, the lab that ran the test panel, and the accreditation seal all have to live on the same panel — and in what order.

Child-resistant packaging — the CR cap, the reseal test, and the copy the package carries
Child-resistant packaging is not a packaging decision — it is a certification decision and a label-text decision. The CR cap certification, the reseal test protocol, the senior-friendliness test, and the third-party lab the certification came from are all part of the package spec; how the certification is referenced on the label, which jurisdictions require the certification stamp on the sticker panel, and which require it on the exit packaging separately are all part of the copy that has to ship. MiseScale writes the CR spec and the label-side CR copy together, so the package and the panel do not drift apart under review.
- CR cap certification.Whether the cap design has been certified under the right protocol (16 CFR § 1700.20 in the US, the equivalent rule in any other jurisdiction), and whether the certification covers the reseal cycle the SKU's shelf life asks for.
- Label-side CR copy. Whether the state requires a CR-certification statement on the sticker panel, on the exit packaging separately, or on both — and whether the certification language has to quote the test lab or just reference the certification mark.
- Senior-friendliness test. Whether the same cap has to clear the senior-friendliness protocol as well as the child-resistance protocol — and which state markets require that test separately versus as part of the same certification cycle.
Batch / lot traceability — the format each state reads, and the SOP that holds across the run
Batch and lot traceability is the field on the label the recall drill tests first. The lot identifier format is different in every state market — some require a date-of-pack stamp, some require a production-run number, some require a test-cycle reference, and most require all three with a specific order. The format that the state asks for has to match the SOP the production team runs from; if the SOP writes the lot in a different order than the label reads, the recall drill breaks before it starts. MiseScale writes the lot-format spec and the SOP language together, so the field reads from the same language the line writes.
Date-of-pack stamp. Whether the state requires a packaged-on date, a best-by date, a production date, or all three — and the format each one has to read in (MM/DD/YYYY, YYYY-MM-DD, Julian date).
Production-run identifier. Whether the run number reads from the SOP or reads from the production system, and whether the run number is part of the lot block or lives as a separate linear barcode.
Test-cycle reference. Whether the test cycle the panel ran against has to be referenced by lot, by panel number, or by both — and the order those references have to read in on the sticker.
SOP ↔ label parity. The SOP the line writes against has to match the format the label reads from, in the same order and with the same field names. A SOP that writes the lot in a different order than the label reads is the recall drill that breaks before it starts.
Chain-of-custody entry. The seat each signature holds — the line operator, the QA tech, the packaging lead — and the timestamp each signature lands against the SOP.
Recall plan. The drill the recall plan reads from — the state-specific format the recall notice writes in, the lot block the recall reads, and the cross-reference the lab-certification mark keeps.
